Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

FIRST: YET ANOTHER COURIER FRAUD !

Details are very sketchy at the moment, but it appears to follow the standard script.  If you or anyone you know receives a call from a DC at Hammersmith Police station to say their debit cards have been cloned and they have some lads in custody ……… JUST PUT THE PHONE DOWN !

This was a standard Courier Fraud.  The victim received a call from a DC Roberts at Hammersmith Police Station on the 7th March, to say their debit card had been cloned and they needed to call their building society immediately, to cancel the card.  He could put them through immediately to do that.  They spoke to the person, who purported to be the building society, answering all the security questions.  The person who was supposedly the building society, asked them to go and withdraw 5,000 Euros.  They would then send a courier to collect it.  The Euros were collected shortly afterwards.

This has now been reported to the police and there have been further calls from the scammers trying to carry the scam on, but there are very few details at this time.

Please pass on the details of Courier Frauds to everyone you know to prevent them from becoming victims.
